Ministry for Children, Youth and Families
Sunday School and His Kidz are two opportunities for children ages 3 and up to come together to grow!
Sunday School is every Sunday, right after the worship service, 11 a.m.-Noon. There are Bible Stories, songs, worksheets and crafts from time to time. There is no need to pre-register your child to attend Sunday School.
His Kidz is every Monday evening, 6-7:30 p.m. This is also an opportunity for younger children. This is a bit different than a traditional Sunday School type setting. At His Kidz, supper is served, Bible stories, songs and crafts or time for group play. Again, there is no need to preregister but there is a Family Information on form to be filled out.
Confirmation Class is taught at St. John Lutheran in a three–year cycle. The class is geared to 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. They meet twice a month for a two hour class period each time during the months of the school year. Confirmation Class gives students the chance to grow in their faith and in the teachings of the Lutheran church. If a teen or young adult would like to know more about confirmation but not be part of the middle school class, contact Pastor Bok or Karen Dutton.
Youth Ministry at St. John gives opportunities for the young people to get together socially while they grow in their faith. There are occasional local trips for bowling, movies or miniature golf. The youth of St. John are also encouraged to attend the events of the Ohio District LCMS being the Sr. High Youth Gathering annually held in November and the Jr. High Youth Gathering held annually in March. Together we also experience other local and national Christian concerts and events.
Family Ministry first and foremost is worship together as a family unit. Other family activities held annually are: Treat-N-Trunk (an alternative to neighborhood trick or treating) held the Friday or Saturday before Halloween, Celebration on of God’s Love Party (held annually the Monday prior to Valentine’s Day) and our annual Easter Egg Hunt (the day before Easter). Christmas Camp is an annual event at St. John. While not scheduled as a ‘family’ event, extra adult hands are always welcome to help make Christmas Camp run smoothly.
