The Women's League - Thanks Everyone who brought items for our in-gathering at the LWML Convention. However now we are asking that you do not bring in anymore empty pill bottles. We still are collecting stamps, old eye glasses, Betty Crocker BOX TOPS for education coupons and Campbell's Labels for education. Thanks to you all. Mary Skyrm.
The Women's League - Will hold a regular business meeting on Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 9:30am. We have some important things to discuss as we begin another year of meetings. Diane and Mary will give a report on the Ohio District LWML Convention. Please plan to join us. All women of St. John are invited to join us at all of our meetings.
The Women's League - Reminds all of St. John members that it is never too early to think of Christmas. We will again have our Mitten Tree in the back of the church and be collecting hats, scarves and mittens for the Cleveland Public Library " Warm Up Cleveland" program. So start knitting or crocheting and make some of these items. If you cannot make them remember to buy a few items as you go shopping. Thanks for your help with our Mitten Tree.
LWML Mission Grant - At the LWML Convention we voted on mission grants for 2016-2018. The Grant receiving the second most votes was for SUPPORT FOR SEMINARIANS! The sum of $15,000 was given to students training for full-time ministry applying through the Ohio District LCMS Student Aid and Recruitment Committee for the academic years 2016-2017 and 2017-2018. Seminarians, our future pastors, need financial assistance with the cost of their studies and training. The Ohio District LCMS and the LWML Ohio District will work together in administering student aid to seminarians. Thank you for your support for our MITES offerings. MITE Boxes are available on the table in the narthex or you can just put your contribution in the large MITE box.
